BABY SIGNING

Babies, even young babies have a desire to communicate to their carers.  Whether it be "I'm hungry" or "I'm tired" they try to communicate with us every day.  Their frustration of not being able to vocalise their needs is one of the main triggers for temper tantrums as they get older.

Baby Signing taps in to a babies natural hand eye coordination skills to teach them how to "sign" their needs.  Babies already sign as they get older, think of how they put their arms up when they want to be picked up.  Baby Sign teaches babies and carers more signs they can use on an everyday basis.

Does is Work?

Baby Sign has been proven to work again and again.

Hullabaloo Kids founder, Sarah Jones, experienced her daughters first sign at the age of 5 months!  She signed "Mummy" in context while signing, and continues to use it everyday.  At 11 months she had a vocabulary of 12 signs and at the grand old age of 17 months, she had a vocabulary of approximately 40-50 signs!

Once babies begin to sign, they pick up new signs very easily, spurred on by the fact that Mummy or Daddy can understand them.  By the age of 18 months (when the terrible twos start) they could have a huge range of signs including eat, milk, more, teddy, hug, mummy, daddy, cat - the possibilities are endless.

Our Classes

Our classes are fun, informative and social.

We sing songs mums should all know:-

"If you're Happy and you Know it Clap your Hands"

"The Wheels on the Bus"

"Old Macdonald had a Farm EIEIO!"

So mums should be prepared to have fun and a good sing a long!  Don't worry if you can't sing, neither can we!  But we enjoy it and so do our babies!

We will teach you the signs you will need to know to sign lots of different songs and nursery rhymes with your baby.

We will teach you a mixture of silly signs eg "Monkey" and key signs eg "Milk" as we have found that babies love to sign the silly ones best, but mums will want to know the useful signs.

We end the activities as they all should end, with a good story.  No matter how small your baby is you'll find their attention doesn't waive when the books come out!

We show you how best to sign with your baby, when the best time to sign with baby is and also how to read and sign with baby.

We then enjoy a chat, let the babies play, have a drink and dare I say it a Chocolate Bar (for us, not the babies!)
